Dato’ Lee Chong Wei – KDU Education Group Scholarship
Scholarship Info
-The Dato’ Lee Chong Wei – KDU Education Group Scholarship 2012 (”LCW-KDU Scholarship 2012”) is a programme to support the national objectives of developing scholars with determination and initiative to achieve their aspirations.
-It is dedicated to students with a strong desire to succeed through hard work and a positive attitude.
-Selection is based on the applicant’s ability to demonstrate his/her determination and perseverance to realize his/her potential.
-Dato’ Lee Chong Wei will act as mentor to the recipients of the LCW-KDU Scholarship 2012 throughout the period of study under the scholarship.
-A total of 10 full scholarships will be given out to deserving individuals in 2012.
-Applicants may be Malaysian citizens or citizens of other countries.
The scholarship has two categories:
Category 1
Pre-university / Foundation / Diploma / University Degree – Courses in KDU University College, Petaling Jaya or KDU College Penang
Category 2
Secondary school (SPM) – Form 4 & 5 at Sri KDU Secondary School, Kota Damansara
-Candidates with the most inspirational personal statement will be shortlisted for an interview with the Scholarship Committee and Dato’ Lee Chong Wei. Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
-The announcement of the LCW-KDU Scholarship 2012 will be made by the end of December 2011.
Terms and Conditions for Successful Candidates
– Successful applicants must not be bonded to other institutions or scholarships / loans.
– Each applicant is accountable for all costs incurred in the course of applying the LCW-KDU Scholarship 2012.
– All decisions made by the Scholarship Committee is final and no appeal will be granted.
– The scholarship covers registration and tuition fees only.
– Holders of this scholarship are not allowed to switch area of study unless with written approval from the Vice Chancellor.
– This scholarship is tenable for the entire duration of the programme. However, a midterm review will be conducted and the Committee may terminate the scholarship award to candidates should their academic performances be found to be lacklustre or been involved in activities or actions that may tarnish the image of KDU Education Group and/ or Dato’ Lee Chong Wei.
– After graduation, candidates must be active members of the KDU Alumni.
Criteria
Category 1
– Form 5 students (or equivalent) sitting for their SPM in 2011 or have sat for it in previous years.
– A minimum of five credits in SPM / IGCSE or equivalent is required
* Midterm or trial examination results can be sent in for consideration when actual results are not yet available.
Category 2
– Students in Form 3 and should have completed their PMR examination (or equivalent)
* Midterm or trial examination results can be sent in for consideration when actual results are not yet available.
Amount
A full tuition fee waiver throughout the duration of the course at selected institution.
How to apply
-Applicants must submit a completed Application Form (either online or manual copy).
-Written personal statement (minimum 300 words) describing your personal journey to achieve your goal. Give your own title. The personal statement can be written either in Bahasa Malaysia, English or Mandarin.
