PIDC gets certificate of accreditation from MQA
Penang International Dental College (PIDC) in Butterworth, Penang received its certificate of accreditation from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) for its Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programme. PIDC was establish and began operation since 2006. It provides the programme on a twinning platform in association with South India’s education group, Vinayaka Missions University.
Malaysian students will go through years one and two pre-clinical studies in the PIDC Salem campus in South India and their years three, four and five clinical studies in the Butterworth campus.
The first batch of students will be graduated next month. The Butterworth campus has a state-of-the-art dental clinical facility, including 75 dental chairs and seven specialities in the dental studies.
PIDC managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Dr S Sharavanan said that currently there are 325 students studying dentistry at PIDC, both in Salem and Butterworth.”PIDC hopes to produce more graduates who will not only address the shortage of dentists in Malaysia but also pave the way to eventually become specialists in the various disciplines of dentistry,” said Dr Sharavanan. He is also pro-chancellor of Vinayaka Missions University.
