University Teknologi Sarawak (UTS) a new public university in Sibu Sarawak.

The Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE) will generate more jobs in the future. By year 2030, at least 100,000 more engineers and 500,000 skilled workers will be needed.
To meet demand for skilled workers, a technological university to be named University Teknologi Sarawak will be established in the town of Sibu.
This will prepare the youth and help secure jobs that could earn up to RM10,000 a month. For welders, the starting salary would be around RM2,000 per month.
To speed up the process of equipping Sarawakians for SCORE, the state’s current tertiary institutions have already forged ties with foreign universities such as India’s BS Abdur Rahman University (BSAU), a leading engineering institution based in Chennai.
Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), and Sarawak Skills Development Centre (PPKS) have all signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) with BSAU.
