Student who are interested for next year intake for this UPM Pre-U programmes should start planning now especially to make sure you are getting good result in your coming SPM 2013 exam as the academic requirement is pretty high.
Students who are sitting for SPM examinations this year or in the coming years have another choice for their Pre-U in the form of Foundation Studies for Agricultural Science [Fast Tract]. Since January 2012, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) offers a faster pathway for school leavers with SPM to enter their first year in degree studies.
Unlike some pre-university programmes such as Form Six and A-levels that take around two years, the fast tract programme only requires eight months. In the same year, students will continue their degree level at UPM Serdang campus. Do not be misled by the course title, this programme prepares students for wide range of courses related to agriculture, agro-bio and also science. Students can choose from various fields of study for their degree.

The foundation programme consists of two semesters, each comprising eight subjects. The student must pass all subjects as exam resits are not offered. To be enrolled into the foundation programme, the candidates must pass their trial examination of Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) with excellent results. They are required to have at least Five Grade A- and Two Grade B+ in the subjects listed below:
1. Biology
2. Chemistry
3. Physics
4. Additional Mathematics
5. Mathematics
6. English Language
7. Bahasa Melayu

Alternatively, students can also opt to take Foundation Studies for Agricultural Science [Normal Tract], which is fully sponsored by the Ministry of Higher Education. The normal tract programme has less tough entry requirements and consists of three semesters with six subjects each. Application to the normal tract foundation programme can be done through UPU.
